Chester Graves Sr.
At times he was heavy handed, then other times, he was fair of heart.
He had a very soft heart, but as a man from 80 plus years ago,
he covered his soft heart with a tough, ornery, difficult side.
It made him very distraught to see his family or anyone hurt or sick.
So he turned it to anger.
Maybe it came from being in World War II.
I don't think it ever left him.
Any war has to mess with ones mind.
He just wanted his children to be honest, God loving people, that
would be all they could be.
He gave his children everything he could.
He just love to dance.
I'm talking jitta bug, 2 step, fox trot, waltz.
I loved to watch dad and mom dance.
Every dance was perpect. They made it look so easy.
Every dance dad would request his favorite song
The Tennessee waltz.
Many have done this song, but Patti Page did it the best.
He was the first one to a dance and the last one to leave the dance.
And he danced every dance, when the live band
took breaks, the band would set up recorded music so
dad could keep dancing.
Now mom had a hard time keeping up with every dance.
So dad's dance card was always full , with family and friends.
He had the best garden in town.
he always gave veggies to family and friends.
There was enough for everyone.
He was always tinkering on something,
from power saws to trucks, and everything in between.
whistling most of the time.
He enjoyed hunting.
He drove truck, built houses, a welder, a lumber jack,
drove skitter,He did lawn care,he raised animals.
he was a son, brother, friend, husband for 49 years, and
a father of 5 children.
( Chronic Obstructive Putlmonary Disease)
He fought it for many years.
But the disease was determined to win.
And it did.
I can't put in words, how hard it was to watch,
this very active man, dying by inches.
And you can't do anything about it .
It's mind boggling,
12 years ago feels like it's today.
Oct. 31, Helloween doesn't hold the same meaning that it use to.
It's a very grave day.
Dad is missed every day for the last 12 years.
Love and miss you Dad.
